Anika Noni is an American performer and singer. Her best-known role is as Tiana, Disney's first African American Princess. Disney Legend was bestowed upon her in the year 2011. Rose played Lorrell Robinson in the Academy Award winning film Dreamgirls. Anika Noni Rose, a native of the United States is an American performer, songwriter and actress. She is most famous for playing Tiana, the Princess and the Frog's African-American Princess of 2009. Disney Legends named her one in 2011. The actress is also known for her performances in the film Lorrell in Dreamgirls which was the Academy Award winning film (2006) as well as LaVerne in Starz's Power. She's also known for performing in the theatre, especially because of her starring role as Emmie Thibodeaux in the Broadway performance of Caroline or Change (2004) in which she was awarded the Tony Award Best Female Featured Performer Award was awarded to her as well as Beneatha Youther in the Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun (2015) for which the Tony Award Best Female Featured Performance in a Play nominated her.
